Anyone who knows me well enough in real life would know that I am obsessed with Nando’s. For years, I’ve been begging for Nando’s to open a branch in Kuching so I can go and satisfy my cravings on the regular and I’m so happy that after months of seeing posters and buntings all around town, Nando’s has finally opened at Kuching’s new Vivacity Megamall.
With great restaurants like Tony Roma’s and Sushi Zanmai as competition, Nando’s has finally hatched at Vivacity Megamall to serve their famous Peri Peri chicken and other delicious side dishes.
I was very happy to receive an invitation to Nando’s Grand Opening, exclusive for members of the media, bloggers and other VIPs. We were served an amazing selection of appetizers, side dishes, ¼ chicken with different flavours and a dessert, along with bottomless drinks.
For appetizers, we were served the Alltogether Now which has Spicy Mixed Olives, Red Pepper Dip, Hummus with Peri Peri Drizzle and warm pita strips. Olives, hummus, red pepper and pita, things couldn’t get any better. Everything in this dish is available as individual appetizers as well so you can easily order your favourites among the four if you would like that.
Our table went through this so fast that one of the service crew immediately gave us another one and I have never been so happy at the time. The Red Pepper Dip is my favourite thing here, it was so good.
For our main course, we were served a variety of side dishes and the ¼ chicken. The side dishes that we had were Coleslaw, Peri-Wedges, Grilled Veg, Corn On The Cob and my personal favourites, Mediterranean Rice and Peri-Chips. If you didn’t know, chips are fries in the UK so don’t ever mistaken it for your good old American potato chips.
The flavours of chicken which were given to us were Lemon & Herb, Mild, Hot and Extra Hot. My favourite Peri Peri sauce is Hot and Garlic, so I chose the Lemon & Herb ¼ chicken so that I can dip it in the Peri Peri Hot and Peri Peri Garlic sauce.
The chicken was so so so so tender and I don’t think I’ve ever had Nando’s THAT good. It really tasted better than the number of times I’ve had at Nando’s in KL.
For dessert, we were given a portion of the Chocolate Crunch Roll which was very chocolatey and luxurious. I love it a lot, it was the perfect finish to the scrumptious and filling meal. They look a bit like kuih batik and I really didn’t realise that it was in fact the Chocolate Crunch Roll instead.
My time at the opening was amazing, Nando’s really did everything in their power to fill everyone up and boy, was I really filled up with food that day. For the first day of opening, Nando’s really did a great job serving delicious food with really good quality and I really hope they would manage to keep up the good work.
So, what are you waiting for? Head on to Vivacity Mall, which is a great mall on its own, to satisfy YOUR Nando’s craving!
