Sundays are always get things done days for me. It’s either that or I just lay in bed all day, just looking through interesting things on the internet. Last weekend, I thought I would do something fun, something different. I’ve been needing a break from anything work or school related so I felt like I needed a short getaway, especially now that my semester break is coming to an end already. Luckily, the beach is only 20 minutes away from my house so I asked my friend, Amira, to go on a picnic with me.
The plan was to check out the Art In The Park event at Buntal Esplanade but since many of our friends couldn’t go to the beach with us and we’ve changed our plans a couple of times, we decided to buy tons of food and chill out at Damai Central. Damai Central is almost like a hub by the beach. You have food courts, a bar, a seafood restaurant, a spa and a hostel all in one place. At the centre is a huge lawn, perfect to lay by the beach under the shade, enjoy the view of the mountains and listen to the sea.
We made our way to the beach at 2.30PM and arrived at 3PM. We were practically the only ones there. We bought tons of food, even stopped by Buntal to get a fresh coconut and for me, my favourite kuih penyaram. I brought a picnic mat and a few disposable cutleries to help us set up the perfect picnic day ever. It felt so so so blissful to just sit there, talk a bit, eat, take pictures and chill out.
By 5PM, more people came and a guy was renting out bubble equipments and bubble soap so we decided to play with bubbles.
By 6PM, the sun was setting so we sat by the beach and watched it. Unfortunately, the sea level was pretty high so there weren’t much sand for us to play with.
I think I should’ve taken more photos but i was having too much of a good time to pick up my camera and take pictures. I was in the moment, I totally just zoned out. Since the beach is only 20 minutes away, I can always go back. I’m already planning an even better picnic in July or August.
Talk again soon,
