THE NEW BURGER JOINT IN TOWN // CANARD RESTAURANT KUCHING

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

For the past week, I’ve been seeing enticing photos of a new burger joint in town. The presentation reminded me of In N Out, which definitely intrigued me and the burgers were mouth-watering. Since I always love myself a good gourmet burger, I decided to check the place out.

This new burger joint is called Canard Restaurant and serves burgers and salads. Upon entering the restaurant, you will be greeted by a clean and minimal layout with white walls and blue ceilings. It’s very bright and nicely lit when the sun is out, perfect for selfies and flatlays. It’s an open kitchen so you’ll see a grill and a fryer with a salad/topping bar. Something you would usually see at sandwich shops like Subway. Orders and payments are made at the counter and your burger/salad of choice will be served at your table.

JOURNAL BY PLAN B : THE MEAL THAT MADE ME SAD

A few weekends ago, I was at Sunway Nexis for an event and I remember that I hadn’t had a single meal at the time so I was really hungry. I wanted to go to Rimba Rusa but it was filled with people so my friend and I decided to go to Publika to see if we can eat at Wondermilk. However, when we got there, we ended up eating at Plan B instead because we’ve always wanted to try the food there. I specifically remember Plan B being super popular so I had really high expectations.

I really didn’t plan on blogging about this restaurant so I don’t have details about the place itself but it’s super popular so you can easily look it up.

RIMBA & RUSA BY WONDERMILK : FEASTING ON THE NEW MENU

If you’ve been following this blog since the very beginning, you would know that I am a huge fan of Rimba & Rusa since the day it opened. When I was planning my trip to Kuala Lumpur, visiting Rimba & Rusa was at the top of my list. I follow them on Instagram so I am pretty up to date with all their menu updates and whatnot. I have been wanting to try out all the new dishes they’ve introduced since the last time I was there and it was finally time that I did exactly that.

I went to Rimba & Rusa after I visited the National Zoo, which is pretty ironic because I literally just came from seeing the rimba and the rusa at the zoo. I was trying to keep myself on a very tight budget because I need to save up for another travel adventure at the end of December, but when I opened the menu, I couldn’t help myself.

LUNCH WITH NANDO’S AT THE SPRING KUCHING – TRYING OUT THEIR NEW MENU!

I’ve been meaning to visit the new Nando’s at The Spring, Kuching for quite some time now but I haven’t had the time to actually go. When Nando’s asked me to come and have lunch with them, I RSVP-ed straight away. Saying no is never an option when it comes to my favourite Peri Peri chicken, it’s either YES or HELL YES!

When the staff started sending out the food, there were a couple of side dishes that I have never seen on the menu. I was intrigued so I asked around, and they are apparently new additions to the Nando’s menu! Like as if we needed to be spoiled with more options!

MAKING TOMYAM FRIED RICE

I go through phases with food. There have been times where I used to eat sushi every single week, ayam penyet every single week and the cycle continues with every other dish available in the market. This time, I think I’m super obsessed with tom yam. I’ve been trying out all the different restaurants serving tom yam soup and I’ve actually found a couple of my favourite ones. However, today, it isn’t about tom yam soup. It’s about this tomyam fried rice.

I follow Farhanah Firdaus (AKA Faafirds on Youtube) and Filzah Razak on Snapchat and a couple of weeks ago, they posted their tomyam fried rice recipes and I salivated while watching them cook. So, this morning, I decided to make my own rendition of the mouth-watering tomyam fried rice.
